Has COVID affected your pension benefits?

The COVID pandemic has had a major impact on our health and the world economy for more than a year now. Has the virus, and its consequences, affected your pension too?

Fortunately the repercussions for our pension fund have not been as bad as they could have been. This is partly due to our investment policy. For a few years now, we have been reducing our investment risks, so that we are better protected against major falls in stock market prices. In recent months, the low interest rate has had a negative impact on our funding ratio. Fortunately the interest rate is once again on the rise. De Nederlandsche Bank prescribes that our funding ratio has to be at least 112.6%. The policy funding ratio, which is a measure of whether we are financially sound, was 112.8% at the end of March. That means that for every euro that we will have to pay out in pension benefits in the future, we have €1.12 in funds, so you don’t have to worry about your pension.
