Is your personal situation changing? Check your pension!

PensioenUpdate #50

Are you moving in together? Relocating or purchasing a house? Then, it’s important to check your pension. But also if you become disabled or if you are going through a divorce, it is important to know what will happen to your pension. You can report any changes via My Pension Figures, the secure environment of our website.

Cohabitation

If you want your partner to be entitled to a partner’s pension after you die, please register your partner with us.

Marriage

If you are getting married or entering into a registered partnership, you don’t need to take any action. We will automatically receive your partner’s data from the municipality. If you get married abroad, please let us know.

Separating

If you are separating after being married or in a registered partnership, you must agree on how to split your lifelong pension income. Please let us know what agreements you make. If you were living together but have decided to now live separately, then you don’t need to split your lifelong pension income. However, you must deregister your partner with us.

Children

Children are the future. You want to know they’ll be looked after, even when you’re no longer there. If you die, your children are entitled to an orphan’s pension until they reach the age of 21. You do not need to register your children with us.

Relocation

If you move within the Netherlands, you don’t need to tell us. If you move outside the Netherlands, please do let us know.

Ill or incapacitated for work

For the first two years of your illness, you will receive income from your employer. You will receive a benefit from the government thereafter. Your pension accrual will continue as long as you are incapacitated for work. If you are only partially incapacitated for work, your pension accrual will continue in part. You do not pay any contribution for this.

Death

In the event of your death, we will arrange an income for your partner and any children up to the age of 18 or 21. If you were living in the Netherlands at this time, we will automatically be told. If you live outside the Netherlands, your surviving relatives must let us know that you have died.
